How STEPP Works

Embark on a journey with STEPP: apply, get selected, undergo orientation, receive on-ground support, share experiences, provide feedback, and stay engaged post-program for lasting inspiration.

The adventure kicks off with our Application Process, where aspiring participants share their essential details, from resumes to personal statements, through our user-friendly online portal. Clear application deadlines ensure transparency for potential candidates. Next comes the Selection and Notification phase, where applications are meticulously reviewed against set criteria, and successful candidates are formally invited through acceptance letters

Application Process
  • Interested participants submit in their essential information, including resumes, academic transcripts, personal statements, and references onto our online application system or Website.
  • Establish application deadlines and communicate them clearly to potential applicants.
Selection
  • Review applications and select candidates based on established criteria.
  • Notify selected candidates and provide them with formal acceptance letters.
Pre-Departure
  • Host pre-departure orientations to prepare participants for the international experience.
  • Cover topics such as cultural sensitivity, health and safety, travel logistics, and expectations during the program.
OnGround Support
  • Designate a local coordinator or point of contact at the host location to assist participants during their stay.
  • Establish a communication plan for regular check-ins and emergency assistance.
  • Collect & Share success stories and achievements of past participants.
Evaluation
  • Collect feedback from participants at the end of the program to assess their experiences.

Program Components

STEPP offers interns comprehensive orientation, diverse placements, mentorship, hands-on projects, learning opportunities, and cross-cultural activities for a fulfilling experience.

Orientation

 All Interns and Volunteers undergo a comprehensive orientation program covering the Host company’s mission, values, and operational guidelines. They also receive training in cross-cultural communication, project management, and international development concepts.

Placement

Interns and Volunteers are then placed within specific departments or projects based on their skills, interests, and the Host company’s This may include roles in project management, research, accounting and finance, communications, fundraising, Engineering, computer science and many more.

Mentorship

Each intern/volunteer is assigned a mentor within the Host company, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development support throughout their internship.

Project Work

Interns and Volunteers actively contribute to ongoing project activities, helping to implement solutions and strategies to address global challenges.

Learning Opportunities
